Mr. Tim asks:
Does your dogs lick their feet and if so, any preventatives?
Mother:
Yes.
I wipe their feet when they come inside IF the grass is wet or damp.
I have used socks and medicated shampoo foot soaks.
Recognizing the triggers, for me is key in order to avoid the outside area which is the irritant. If Edward and Lily walk in wet or damp grass, the result is foot irritation and at times an infection between their paw pads.
Fanks for telling us this cos sometimes Maggie licks her one foot....I fink it is cos hers is meannie....stella rose

Cinderella used to lick her feet a lot when she had a yeast infection on her paws. Wiping the paws regularly with a mix of apple cider vinegar and water helped a lot.
ReplyDeleteMine enjoy licking human tootsies. BOL.

Dear Lily and Edward,
ReplyDeleteWhy do the people always fuss when we spend time licking our paws? Don't they know that licking fixes everything?

We lick OURS beclaws MOM says they SMELL like FRITOS...
ReplyDeleteHmmm...interesting. All the kids in this house lick their feet from time to time. Yes my mom and dad wipe our feets if they get wet or damp. Sam gets his feet and legs and other parts lasered and that helps with soreness but in Lily's case, it might kill off any bacteria or itritation she might be experiencing. It's non invasive.
ReplyDeleteMy sister Katie licks her paws sometimes, but it is from her arthritis pain.
ReplyDeleteSome great advise, we have a couple of feetie lickers here too!

Great answer. Funny, except during snow season, our pups almost never lick their feets.
ReplyDeleteBentley licks his feet when his allergies flare up. I give him Benadryl if it gets troublesome.

I do this, so has every other scottie my peep has had in her life, Fergus I, Fergus II, Alex and I.
ReplyDeleteChooey has that same habit. It's a good thing, it's not something she does often. I think it's because there are times that she's bored. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteYour mom ROCKS for taking such good care of you guys!
ReplyDeleteYours sincerely,

I am getting yelled at a lot for licking my paws because of allergies. She is threatening me with socks or booties. Love Dolly
