Do you leave Lily and Edwards toys and bones on the floor when they are unattended?
Mother:
This question could not have come at a better time. I have always left stuffies on the floor when my pups are unattended since Benny, who passed away, and Lily have never destroyed anything. Now my Edward is a different story. Although he rarely destroys his toys, three times he has been successful in desqueaking them. He has never swallowed a squeaker, he spits it out on the floor and walks away.
"I accomplished what I set out to do!"
The other day I noticed a stuffie with a small hole. I picked it up to sew and looked inside. It was not a squeaker but a battery operated noise box.
Would he have eaten what looks like materials to make a bomb! I doubt it.
I do pick up the toys with these devices inside....just in case.
She always laughs when all the toys come out but never go back in the box. Have a fabulous Friday.

Our sitting room floor us often strewn with discarded toys, they never seem to find their way back in to the toy box!

Gosh, that's scary. We do usually leave one or two stuffies for Ruby because they kind of serve as a security blanket for her. Will have to double check that they don't have batteries.
ReplyDeleteUn-stuffing and de-squeaking a squeaky toy is standard squeaky toy policy in our house. Good job Edward!
ReplyDeleteWe have destuffers and desqueakers at our house too. Our toys are left out because neither of the dogs eats the squeakers and they don't fight over toys. IF my two fought over toys or had a tendency to eat things they took from the toy, then I would pick them up when we weren't home and monitor them when we were.
ReplyDeleteHigh Paws Edward, for your pawsome de-squeaking skills.

My weiner dog Rosie has many toys. I leave all her toys out, she has never destroyed or desqueaked her toys. She is a hoarder, she is their mother. No one can get near her when she is mothering her toys. She acts so ugly sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI leave toys out too because luckily none of our dogs are toy eaters if a toy is ripped its during tug with us and then I immediately throw it out

We leave 2 or 3 toys out while we're away to keep them busy & happy and also to keep the toys fresh & interesting for them. Good point about the squeekers or battery operated insides. We have one w/ a battery in it, we don't let them have it while unattended.

All our dogs love toys, but the soft ones get destroyed. So we have to buy hard rubber bones, balls etc.

I leave Bentley's toys out when we aren't home, but I never leave chew bones out. Pierre gets in his kennel when we leave.
ReplyDeleteEdward you march to your own drum....good thing you 'left' the squeak...otherwise you'd never be able to sneak up on Lily or Mother

We leave some toys for Mabel but Mom makes sure they are ok ones. Any holes they get picked up and fixed

A battery and a doggie do not mix! That is very dangerous. When mom and dad are away from us (almost never) we just wait by the door in sadness until they return. We play with our toys once they get back.

Murphy & Stanley
Excellent Post "MOTHER"... Our mom won't let us have those BATTERY toys.. They COULD be dangerous fur us...
ReplyDeleteOur mom picks up any toy or bone in question too. You can never be too safe!

Toys stay out for the most part, unless broken. Some special ones, like Pike's frisbees, get put away.
ReplyDeleteOurs lay around, the peeps check them when buying to know whats inside, if not safe no buy,,,, every thing else is tennis balls.

We have a very similar routine to yours. Indestructable toys are okay but stuffies are not!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment yesterday about "forever". I'm so sad that anyone could have ever not wanted Edward. He is the luckiest dog in the world to have you as his mom now and forever.
☺️
DeleteWe hardly ever get to play with stuffies since we just unstuff them immediately but our nylabones and antlers are always around for us to chew on.
ReplyDeleteWe love to de-stuff, de-squeak and play with the pelts! Twice Dui has vomited up material....so he has to be watched. We always have antlers around.
ReplyDeleteMom leaves all our stuff out. Bailie is the only one who plays with the toys and she normally doesn't play with things if Mom isn't home and so far has only destuffed things like bed pillows and beds when home alone.
ReplyDeleteWow! I guess it is a good thing that neither of the girls desqueaks or destuffs anything! It is a different story when Beemer, the granddog comes to visit. He will rip anything apart!!
ReplyDeleteWe have always picked them up..my sisters German shepherd had to have a half rotted tennis ball removed from his stomach after our mum left him unattended with a tennis ball..the operation was massive,so I have a string shopping bag and when the biys have finished playing I pop them in there and hang them up outside..the bonus is once a month I tie the bag at the top and wash the whole thing in the laundry then hang it out to dry :) due to the slobber etc I refer to it as the YUKKY DIP bag...:) loves Fozziemum xx
ReplyDeleteOur toy stash has been greatly depleted since the arrival of Miss Liesel in November...she destuffs them! For that reason, toys do not get left out unless supervision is available....Mama has hauled more fuzz & "stuff" from Liesel's mouth.....and Oskar has one favourite stuffed toy....a snowman...so that goes in his crate with him at bedtime.
ReplyDeleteWe leave toys out all the time. It keeps them from destroying other things!
ReplyDeleteThey only go up when Mom vacuums.
ReplyDeletePawsome Edward :)
