Our Best Friend Niko

Niko: 1990 to 2009
Hi Friends...this is Lily. Benny said I could do paw prints today cause we wanted to take a moment to remember our friend Niko. I knew Niko first. He was a Cairn Terrier or as I called him, a Cairn "terrorist." BOL...BOL... He was so funny. He made us snort, run and play. He was so full of life and energy. I am pretty sure his middle name was tennis ball. He loved chasing those things. He even competed just for fun in Fly Ball. He had a good life. His mom loved him to death. We loved him too. What a character.

This is Niky after a bath, showing his pearly whites, dressed up with his tie, a hat, drinking from the fountain in the park and dressed up like a ghost a few Halloweens ago.

Brother Benny said Niko was a piece of work like me.  Niko was already a senior citizen when I first met him. I kissed his face and allowed him to play with my stuffies/babies. Niko could not hear or see to good toward the end of his days. I think he was only faking it. Cause when it was food time he could see

and hear again. Thats Niky for ya.

Well Niko my friend, we miss you but I hope grandpaw is taking you for long walks in doggy heaven.

Annie misses you the most since she was your little sister. Miss you Niko..today is your bloggy day little man.

  3. What a great dog Niko was! We are so glad he had a good and happy life - he was a great age!
We also like the idea that Grandpaw is taking him walks in heaven.
When Harry died, dog before us! Mum says her nephew said that it was good cos Gran & Grandad would be able to take him for walks in heaven!!
She liked that and it sounds good for Niko too.
    love and kisses

  4. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

  11. Our Mama is dropping big wet things all over us from her eyes! She told us that Nico was a very loved little friend and that Nico will wait at the Rainbow Bridge for his Mama so he can make sure she knows the right way to go!! Hoping your friends will remember all the fun you all had together. We care~ Toby, Ginger and Jeter (as dictated to their Mom, Ina)

  17. Wow - it looks like Niko lived a long (19 years?!?) and wonderful life. How lovely of you to do a post for him to commemorate the little terrier. You know, they say that terriers never die, they just go to ground! My brother Duncan was 17, and still loved a good dig in the dirt. Hope Niko is up there burying all the other dogs halos!!
