Everyone at my house is broken hearted that Benny had to go to the Bridge. He was an inspiration to all of us throughout Blogville and he will be so, so missed. We are thinking of all of you who loved Benny the most and are sending you lotsa love and hugs (and brindle kisses) during this sad, sad time.
Every single time we hear about a loss a little piece of our heart breaks too. I know all too well the heartache and sadness that is filling your soul and body. I wish that there were words of comfort I could offer that would help in any way to take some of the numbness, the sadness, the aching away, but I know there is not. All I can say is how very sorry I am over your loss and the one thing that is true is the love that was shared with Benny will sustain you and warm your soul and heart again in time. I won't try to tell you that time heals all wounds because I don't believe it does, what it does do is erase the hard jagged edges off the pain and sorrow. I will offer one piece of advise if I may and that is be gentle with yourself, you may find that you want answers or feel blame in some way, you did everything right, you loved Benny and gave him great comfort and care. This may seem like it's an ending but it is only the beginning of a new path, a new journey you are on with Benny. Know he is with you always where it matters most -- in your heart and your spirit.

I'm so sorry for your loss. He was way too young. Cancer effing sucks. It took my girl who was only 2 1/2. It does not fight fair. Benny gave it his all. Every morning - Two French Bulldogs was opened first to see what was going on with Benny and Lily. I've watched Benny fight like a frenchie with poise and charisma. I've watched Nurse Lily stand by her chubby's side. And I've seen momma take care of the two with love and strength as only a mother can do. I know Benny is running free now at the bridge with my Lucy, Macchi and Norm - all without pain and without illness and without age. My thoughts are with you Andrea and Lily at this very difficult time.

The best little frenchie in the world. Tears are streaming down my cheeks. We were speechless for a while, but realize now that he can look over his family until it is time to meet again. I left you a comment on Facebook yesterday when I heard the most awful news. Benny touched THOUSANDS of us more than you will ever know. Through your words and humor you "humanized" him for us and made it as if we knew him. That is what hurts so much. He is a beloved part of this community and will forever be missed. I feel for you and send my condolences. I remember reading the blog posts of Benny's visits to the vet and the sweet pictures of him and Lily. Please send her my love too, I hope she stays strong.
I shared with Pip and Gracie Lynn a dream that I had during the time of their passing. Two of my dogs from my childhood and teenage years came to me in a dream. They led me through dark halls filled with many dogs and when we got outside, all of the dogs ran towards the grass and to other dogs that were already there. When I woke the next morning, I heard the news of Gracie Lynn and Pip passing away and I remembered how I comforted the dogs as we waited to reach the other side. I'm sure that Pip and Gracie were in those halls with me and the rest of the dogs.
After having that dream, I decided to host a blog event on October 30 titled, "To My Angel(s)" which is dedicated to our animal companions that have passed. Every single time we hear about a loss a little piece of our heart breaks too. I know all too well the heartache and sadness that is filling your soul and body. I wish that there were words of comfort I could offer that would help in any way to take some of the numbness, the sadness, the aching away, but I know there is not. All I can say is how very sorry I am over your loss and the one thing that is true is the love that was shared with Benny will sustain you and warm your soul and heart again in time. I won't try to tell you that time heals all wounds because I don't believe it does, what it does do is erase the hard jagged edges off the pain and sorrow. I will offer one piece of advise if I may and that is be gentle with yourself, you may find that you want answers or feel blame in some way, you did everything right, you loved Benny and gave him great comfort and care. This may seem like it's an ending but it is only the beginning of a new path, a new journey you are on with Benny. Know he is with you always where it matters most -- in your heart and your spirit.

Every morning - Two French Bulldogs was opened first to see what was going on with Benny and Lily. I've watched Benny fight like a frenchie with poise and charisma. I've watched Nurse Lily stand by her chubby's side. And I've seen momma take care of the two with love and strength as only a mother can do. I know Benny is running free now at the bridge with my Lucy, Macchi and Norm - all without pain and without illness and without age. The best little frenchie in the world. Tears are streaming down my cheeks. We were speechless for a while, but realize now that he can look over his family until it is time to meet again. Lily and Momma took such good care of him that he will return the favor from the bridge. ReplyDeleteI shared with Pip and Gracie Lynn a dream that I had during the time of their passing. Two of my dogs from my childhood and teenage years came to me in a dream. They led me through dark halls filled with many dogs and when we got outside, all of the dogs ran towards the grass and to other dogs that were already there. When I woke the next morning, I heard the news of Gracie Lynn and Pip passing away and I remembered how I comforted the dogs as we waited to reach the other side. I'm sure that Pip and Gracie were in those halls with me and the rest of the dogs.

ReplyDeleteIt feels so hard to put words together just now because we really can't get over this. Benny was an amazing dog, he brightened our lives and touched our hearts and we will really really miss him. I'm sure he'll have a great time over the bridge with Mr Pip, one day we'll all get to meet up with him again, and join in with his fun!
